Yes — the THAT app is a self-custody wallet, which means you hold the keys, not us. You can access THAT and other cryptocurrencies from the app, as long as they're on a compatible network.
With the THAT Wallet app (or another compatible crypto wallet), you can pay with crypto at participating businesses. After acquiring THAT or another supported token, you may choose to hold it in the THAT Wallet or another wallet where you control the private keys. When making a payment, open your wallet, enter the amount to send, scan the merchant's QR code (or paste their wallet address), and confirm the transaction. The tokens are then transferred peer-to-peer from your wallet to the merchant's wallet through the relevant blockchain network. Transaction times and network fees may vary depending on the blockchain network being used, though most modern networks process transactions within seconds.
Most, if not all, crypto payment providers convert cryptocurrency into fiat (such as AUD or USD) before settling funds with the business. This process may involve exchange fees, spreads, or additional card processing fees, depending on the provider and payment method used. With the THAT Wallet, merchants can choose to accept THAT (or other supported digital assets) directly rather than having them automatically converted. Payments are sent peer-to-peer from the customer's wallet to the merchant's wallet on the relevant blockchain network, without mandatory conversion to fiat at the point of sale. This approach allows businesses to decide whether to retain the tokens they receive or convert them to fiat later using an exchange or another service of their choice.
